SYNOPSIS

As the Battleship Missouri blasts into orbit, Space Marine Sergeant Zack Delano (Billy Wirth) and Captain Tom Gray ( Edward Albert) stage a precision assault to rescue a diplomat held hostage on a desolate planet.

The time is the mid 21st Century, and the Universe is now governed by a powerful, peace-loving organization: the United Planets. The SPACE MARINES are the highly trained special forces the government deploys to maintain order. However, peace is broken when a band of renegade Pirates steal a top secret nuclear cargo and kidnap a high-ranking government official.

The United Planets has two options: diplomacy or force.

While Zack is a veteran who knows how to get the job done, he's nevertheless thwarted at every turn by the eloquent but sadistic pirate Colonel Fraser (John Pyper-Ferguson). Fraser plays on the government's sympathy by relaying live images of the hostage being brutally tortured.

Losing its resolve, the government withdraws the Marines in the heat of battle, resulting in the death of a Sergeant. Only Zack's heroism saves the retreating squad from total annihilation.

Back on the battleship, the Marines receive a new assignment: Zack is ordered to go undercover and escort Ambassador Nakamura ( James Shigeta) and his beautiful, headstrong assistant Dar Mullins (Cady Huffman), to negotiate a peaceful exchange of the hostage.

Although Zack suspects an ambush, he fails to convince Nakamura of the danger. Unfortunately, Zack's instincts were right: Fraser disrupts the negotiation by detonating a concealed explosive. In the ensuing confusion, Zack, Dar and Nakamura are captured.

Fraser retreats with his hostages into an uncharted asteroid in a remote sector of space. As Dar and Zack attempt to escape, they learn that Fraser plans to use Nakamura to achieve his true objective: to extort the entire treasury from the United Planets and ultimately destroy it.

When Zack and Dar are overwhelmed by Fraser's Pirates, it's up to Captain Gray and the Marines to save the day -- even if it means defying orders and attempting the impossible: storming the heavily guarded government headquarters itself.
