Brothers Buddy and Al Johnson, raised at their mother's Atlantic City nightclub, "The Wonder Bar", tutored by the great nightclub acts of the time, including Sal Dupree, dream of becoming great singers. Dreams are forgotten when the financial pressures cause their mother to lose all she's worked for. Though barely teenagers, Buddy and Al vow they'll get "The Wonder Bar" back...no matter what.

Making a dollar singing as adults is tough, and to make matters worse, Buddy's and Al's day job is as sordid as their plant manager. Words and shoves lead to fighting, and Buddy and Al are fired, but aren't paid their due. They break in to get what they're owed, and stumble across $300,000 in hot money!
