      The year is 1959. Sergius O'Shaughnessy is a 28 year old self-styled Don Juan with a passion for bullfighting. With a coat of white paint he transforms his Greenwich Village loft into a studio for his bullfighting classes and an arena for his various sexual conquests. But O'Shaughnessy has met his match-Denise Gondelman.

      O'Shaughnessy compares the bed to a bullring, sometimes seeing himself as the matador, and sometimes as the bull; but his new "opponent" is determined to use HIM as a means to achieve the sexual freedom and maturity she desires.

      By the time O'Shaughnessy helps Denise realize her "moment of truth", he discovers more about the workings of his own libido than he had bargained.
